Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo Food Packing Event was on April 20th

On Saturday, April 20th, Brother Knights from the Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo Dioceses joined together for a Cross Catholic Outreach Food Packing event. A special thank you to the Brother Knights of Bishop Fulton Sheen Council #7487 and Grand Knight Paul Kwiatkowski for hosting this exceptional event at Holy Redeemer parish gymnasium in Jenison!
We were thrilled to see a remarkable turnout of volunteers who came together to pack an impressive 60,490 meals in just TWO HOURS and TEN MINUTES, setting a new record! Of these meals, 5,842 packages will be distributed within the local communities, while the remaining 54,648 meals will be sent by Cross Catholic Outreach to a country in dire need of this life-saving food.
The day was truly extraordinary, filled with compassion, teamwork, and the satisfaction of making a meaningful impact. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated and dedicated their time and energy to this noble cause.
Together, we are changing lives for the better!
We pray for blessings upon the hands of our volunteers and donors, that the nourishing food they have packed may provide sustenance to those most in need, both physically and spiritually. As we look ahead to future food packing events across Michigan, may we continue to spread love and kindness in Jesus' name, one meal at a time.

April 7th was Fraternal Night for the Michigan Knights of Columbus at Little Caesar's Arena! Everyone had a great time AND the Red Wings defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-1!

2024 DAVL Vocations Dinner held on April 14th

The 31st Annual Detroit Archdiocesan Vocations League Vocations Dinner took place on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Zuccaro’s Banquet Center in Chesterfield Township, MI. Attendees enjoyed a delicious Polish dinner, listened to remarks from our State Deputy, Christopher Kolomjec, and were honored to hear a presentation from the Most Reverend Bishop Jeffrey Monforton, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The funds raised from this dinner will be allocated towards supporting scholarships for Seminarians and Postulants. Thanks to all who attended this event; your generous contributions will help nurture the future leaders of our community and ensure the continuation of our sacred vocations.

McGivney Field opening ceremonies pt 3

Dear Brother Knights,
The Special Olympics Initiative, involving the building of a totally adaptable Special Needs baseball field in the Archdiocese of Detroit, continues to transpire. I am pleased to announce more details on the blessing and naming of the Clinton Valley Little League Challenger Division Senior League Baseball Field in honor of our founder “Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney.” This spectacular event will take place on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. I trust that you have been following the developments in our previous articles. Let us approach this event with enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and a true sense of camaraderie. Brothers, we are truly in the Big Leagues now.
To the 42 escorted councils and their Worthy Grand Knights, I kindly request that you provide a count of the members attending this event and make a note of it in your council activities reports. For all Grand Knights in the Archdiocese of Detroit whose councils will be in attendance, please ensure that bottled water is provided for your members, along with copies of the opening and closing odes.
To the members of the flash mob, your role is providing a grand entrance for our celebrant. The M.I. Drive aprons you wear will symbolize our unity and commitment to serving those with special needs. Before entrance onto and off of the field, we will be singing the KofC opening and closing odes respectively. Remember, unity in song is key, and it will set the tone for the event, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.
Brother Knights, this is your time to shine. Your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and now it is your moment to be in the spotlight you deserve. Worthy Grand Knights, please ensure that any members in wheelchairs or walkers are accommodated and included in the festivities. Let us show all the true spirit of brotherhood and inclusion.
Also, coordinate with your Council Membership Chairman, and if there are any potential members for your council, invite them, fit them in an apron, and let them see Knights in action up close and firsthand.
On this special occasion, Kathy Kuzner, a young lady with Down syndrome and the daughter of Brother Knight Robert Kuzner of Monsignor Gordon Council 12102, will be singing the National Anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner.” I have heard Kathy Kuzner sing and she has the voice of an angel and a smile that will melt your heart.

The Michigan Knights of Columbus State Raffle Drawing took place on April 11th at St. John Neumann Parish in Canton.
Over 100 guests enjoyed food and refreshments before the drawing. We extend our sincere gratitude to Father Paul Ballien and the Brother Knights of Council #16169 for their exceptional hospitality in organizing and hosting this event.

46th Annual Respect Life Dinner was held on April 9th

The 46th Annual Respect Life Benefit Dinner took place on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the San Marino Club in Troy. This event was proudly presented by the Michigan Knights of Columbus and Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund. The keynote address was delivered by special guest speaker Dan Compton, whose life story is a testament to the value of every human life, having been born through the hands of one of the deadliest abortionists in American history.
Throughout the evening, several prestigious awards were presented, including the Joan of Arc Award (Barbara Listing) and the Golden Knight Award, which was bestowed upon Otto Listing. Additionally, our Worthy State Deputy, Christopher Kolomjec, had the honor of presenting a $10,000 check to Amber Roseboom of Right to Life Michigan.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended this significant event. Your presence and support are invaluable as we strive to promote the message of Respect Life. May God bless you abundantly as you continue to advocate for the sanctity of all human life!

The Detroit Red Wings game was a great time. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. What a fun Fraternal get together.
On to our next event. Sunday June 2nd 2024 we are having a Knights of Columbus Day at the Ballpark. West Michigan WhiteCaps vs Great Lakes Loons. Let's try to fill that ball park up and have a good time.

Silver Rose visits St Hubert on Divine Mercy Sunday

On Divine Mercy Sunday, a celebration and Silver Rose prayer service was held in District 101, hosted by St. Hubert Council 11658 in Harrison Township. The Silver Rose was escorted to St. Hubert parish by State Faith Director/Silver Rose Director Bob “Ace” Bagley and the Knights on Bikes. Many Brother Knights and 4th Degree Color Corps members joined the St. Hubert parishioners for a beautiful and solemn Mass, and stayed for the Silver Rose prayer service.
The tradition of the Silver Rose originated in Monterrey, Mexico in 1960, when Brother Knights there came up with the idea to run a rose to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The rose was chosen to commemorate Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses. Over time, this tradition evolved into the Silver Rose, with eight roses now traveling different North American routes that include Canada, every U.S. state, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and Mexico.
This tradition not only honors Our Lady of Guadalupe but also symbolizes the Unity of the Knights of Columbus and reaffirms our dedication to the sanctity of human life.
