Council 13360 - Council #13360 - December - Knight and Family of the Month

By: Mark Tepen - Wed, Jan 23, 2019 3:30 AM

Knight of the Month, December:  Jon Pavlinac.

Jon has been frequent volunteer when the Knights of Columbus have hosted Coffee and Doughnuts on Sunday mornings after Masses.  Jon has been there at every event this fraternal year, welcoming and visiting with parishioners, making sure that things run smoothly, and helping with the cleanup.  And he does this with great joy.

Family of the Month, December:  Peter and Annie Kadeli.

Since they arrived in Ann Arbor last summer and inquired about serving in music at CTK, Peter and Annie made such a positive impact on many of our liturgies.   Peter is the type of choir director whose arrival we have all been praying for.  In his spare time from his Master's degree studies at UofM in choral conducting, he has rejuvenated the Christ the King choir.  Annie, in the soprano section, is one of a number of new choir members.

Council 13360 - District Deputy Dan Gibbons Newsletter Article - Dec 2018

By: Mark Tepen - Wed, Dec 5, 2018 3:30 AM

The State Winter Meeting was held on November 30th and December 1st. In attendance were the State of Michigan leadership team, clergy representing each diocese, and most of the state District Deputies. The main topic of the meeting was membership.

As your District Deputy, my main responsibility is to ensure growth for each council. This is where the Faith in Action programs I've been discussing in my monthly newsletters come into play. We need to become an organization that believes in, promotes, and lives our faith. With the rapidly changing society in which we live, men are aching for meaning in their lives, a challenge that pushes them to be better, and fraternity with other men that are striving for a greater goal in life.

The most poignant talk during the state meeting was by our State Chaplain, Father Paul Erickson, on Praying the Scriptures (Lecto Divina). This is a way to bring the scriptures alive through reading and meditation.

At the end of the weekend, Fr Paul stood before us all and said “Turning and listening to the Voice of God is not an option! It is the most important aspect of becoming the men we need to be, and building our councils. We owe each man in our parishes the opportunity to join the Knights and together, we can all become the men that we were created to be.

Vivat Jesus!

Father Bill is the Chaplain of our council.  He gives us a good example of a priest who is ready to serve, particularly in the sacraments, despite his health/illness problems.

Family of the Month, October:  Greg & Sue Stout.

Greg is coordinator of scheduling for our Adoration Chapel, one of the cornerstones of our parish.  Sue, among other activities, serves regularly as a volunteer at Emmanuel House.

Council 13360 - District Deputy Dan Gibbons Newsletter Article - Nov 2018

By: Mark Tepen - Sat, Nov 17, 2018 3:30 AM

Thanksgiving is a time when we can look at the things in our lives we are grateful for. My list includes my beautiful wife, my children, and of course Jesus and his church. We just celebrated All Saints and All Souls day, and I always look back and thank God for my Dad, grandparents, my mother and father in-law, and all who have passed away, but still touch my life.

It may sound strange, but another thing I'm thankful for is God's gift of free-will. I've not always made the best choices, but God has used the mistakes I've made to mold me into the man I've become. At each K of C event I attend, council/diocesan/state events, I see men who inspire me either by their goodness, but also by men who are struggling with bad choices. I learn from them all.

For this month, let's think of all the men in our lives, the good and the bad, and reflect on how to use our experiences to become better men...and how to help other men achieve the greatness they were created to be.

We owe each man in our parish the opportunity to grow in holiness through fraternity and service by joining the Knights of Columbus.

Vivat Jesus!

Corporate Adoration

On November 10, 2018, the Christ the King Council #13360 Knights of Columbus will continue our Veteran's Day tradition by gathering at the usual Knights' Adoration Hour, 1:00am to 2:00am at the Christ the King Adoration Chapel.  All Knights who are able are invited to intercede before the Blessed Sacrament in an hour of silent prayer for our country's military veterans, both living and dead.
