Councils Stand Up for our Youth at the Detroit Archdiocesan Meeting

There are so many opportunities to put your Faith in Action, even at a Diocesan Meeting!
 
Our Worthy State Deputy, Christopher Kolomjec, recently had a conversation with Father Matthew Hood of Detroit Catholic Campus Ministries. This ministry serves the students of Wayne State University, UofM-Dearborn, and other nearby campuses. Father Hood is currently organizing a trip for local Catholic college students to attend the Eucharistic Revival in Indiana. However, this trip comes with a hefty price tag, and Father Hood mentioned that they still needed an additional $5000 to cover expenses and asked if the Knights of Columbus could help.
 
During the Detroit Archdiocesan Meeting on January 16th, our Worthy State Deputy shared this information with the Brother Knights in attendance. While the State Deputy was still speaking, councils immediately stepped up and began pledging funds! The pledges ranged from $250 to $1000, and in total, over $17,000 was pledged! This generous amount of money will cover the entire trip for these students.
 
Despite the freezing minus-4 degree weather outside, the warmth of generosity filled every heart in that room. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our Brother Knights for their spontaneous kindness, their support for our Youth, and for putting their Faith in Action for the next generation of Catholics!

Gaylord January 14th Diocesan meeting postponed

The Gaylord Diocesan meeting scheduled for Sunday January 14th is being postponed because of the blizzard predicted for this weekend in Gaylord. Expect a new date to be published by early next week.
 

UPDATE

The Gaylord Diocesan Meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday, January 28th. The meeting will be held at St Mary's Council 2781 located at 2753 Wilkinson Rd. Gaylord, MI 49735 following 11am Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral in Gaylord.

· Get the message out.

·  Send the flyer to families, students, and friends let them know everyone is invited to participate. They can sign up with the QR code on the flyer. Post flyers on church announcements boards.

· Many councils have supported this financially. If you haven’t please have your councils consider a donation- $2.00 / member is suggested. Personal donations can be sent directly to Cross Catholic using the donation QR code on flyer. 

· Pray for the success of this important Faith in Action program.

2024 State Raffle January Update

On Friday, December 29, 2023, Executive Secretary, Larry Grabowski, Michigan Columbian Editor, Gary Kolbicz, State Raffle Directors, Kevin Rowley and Mike Haughey gathered at the State Office to conduct the first of four $250.00 “Early Bird”, seller incentive drawings. Joining us was Archdiocesan Membership Director John Reeser.
 
With the days mail picked up from the P. O. Box and all tickets processed, Kevin Rowley gave the barrel a final spin and reached into the barrel to pull the winning ticket!

With the first Early Bird Drawing Completed, you still have Three remaining chances to win $250.00. Remaining drawings will be held on January 29, 2024, February 29, 2024, and March 29, 2024. So don’t delay, sell your book of 12 tickets and mail them in with your check and your Early Bird Raffle Ticket today!

If asked, would you donate $12.00 to your council, while putting in to practice the First Degree of our Order?
 
Remember, $1.00 of every ticket you sell goes directly to your Local Knights of Columbus Council. (One sold book equals a $12.00 donation to your Council on your behalf)
 
To date, through your efforts, we have collectively raised over $40,000.00 for local councils, through the sale of State Charity Raffle tickets. That’s a great start, but with over 60,000 Knights of Columbus members in the state of Michigan, the potential share to councils is over $720,000.00. To date approximately 3,350 members of the over 60,000 members, have bought or sold their 12 tickets.
 
Tracking Every Ticket
 
Each and every ticket bears a unique bar code on the bottom. The bar code contains your Council number and membership number. This allows us the ability to track ticket sales to each individual Council and individual member. This assures your Council gets credit and the revenue from each ticket you sell.

2023-2024 Michigan Knights of Columbus State Raffle

Thank you to all Brother Knights who have sold or bought and returned their raffle tickets with check, to
the State Office P.O. Box. You’ve done a great job including your “Early Bird” drawing ticket with each
book sold. Thank you also to all the brothers who have taken extra books of tickets to sell. Thanks to
all of you, we’re off to a great start again this year, raising much needed funds for our Michigan Charities
and local councils.

 

1st Early Bird Raffle Drawing
Our first of four Early Bird Raffle drawings is this Friday, December 29, 2023. One lucky brother will end
2023 with and extra $250.00 in their pocket. Will it be you? As they say, “you can’t win if you don’t
have a ticket.” Check those dresser drawers, desk drawers, kitchen counter tops, car trunks and glove
boxes, find your tickets and get them in for a chance to win.


Council Share
Would you like to donate $12.00 to your Council? Simply sell or purchase your book of raffle tickets and
your council will receive $1.00 for every ticket. That’s $12.00 per book sold. Some councils have really
jumped on the State Charity Raffle as one of the simplest fundraisers they’ve ever had. Your council
doesn’t have to apply for a license, you don’t have to recruit volunteers, cook pancakes or spaghetti,
simply sell your State Charity Raffle Tickets and your council receives $1.00 for every ticket sold. If just
the Elected Council Officers sell their tickets, your council will earn $144.00.Raffle cleanup
