Notre Dame Dignity Campaign

Thanks to the generosity of our members, community, and local business, we were able to collect over 500 new and gently used suitcases for Holy Cross Family Services, to be given to children in transition.

Often when a child is being moved out of a bad situation, they leave with nothing but a garbage bag full of their belongings, but now, because of your generosity, 500 children will receive dignity, in the form of a suitcase to place all their belongings.

Our 2022 Dignity campaign shattered our expectations, we hoped to receive between 30 - 50 items, instead, we got over 500!

The power of Fraternity and Community never stops amazing me! Together, we can change the world, one act of kindness at a time!

Brother Knights, you should be proud of what we have accomplished, I know I am!

Saturday August 13 Fifteen Brother Knights, ten from Au Lac Council # 10724 and five from Our Lady on the River Council #856 spent several hours rebuilding a deck and ramp, power washed the house, did maintenance work on the air and furnace units, and trimmed the yard at a homebound person's house. This is what the Knights are all about - Charity, Unity and Fraternity, in service to our families, church and communities.

Here's a before photo and an after photo.

Downriver Knights Cruise

The 10th Anniversary downriver Knights Cruise!  The prequel, and fundraiser, to our annual Downriver Knights Family Picnic was held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.  One hundred and fifty of us (representing 8 KofC councils) gathered on the Diamond Queen this year as the Diamond Jack had been sold (and is currently doing tours up in Charlevoix).  We went north up the Detroit River, enjoying the breeze and viewing the sites, such as the new supports of the Gordie Howe bridge.

From the feedback received everyone had a great time onboard while enjoying pizza, veggies, cookies, assorted libations, and the serenading by Pamala Jackson.  We were also accompanied by our Worthy Immediate Past State Deputy Walter Winkle and his wife Karen, and State Treasurer Charlie McCuen and his wife Pamela. My weather prediction this year was slightly off… when tickets for the event went on sale in May I predicted 78 degrees and clear, sunny skies.  When we docked it was 80 degrees, and still clear…but not as sunny.
Plan on joining us next year and having a great time while supporting our annual Downriver Knights family picnic!  And don't forget...this year's picnic is Saturday, August 27th at Centennial Farm.
