Today’s Gospel reading starts with John the Baptist asking if Jesus is the Messiah (“the one who is to come”) or if they should wait for another. Did John have doubts about Jesus’ identity? Or did he have another purpose for his question? We’ll discuss that, plus the three exhortations in the second reading from James, as we continue our Advent journey in this week’s Dad Talk. Please share with a friend, and god bless! Dad

Congratulations to Austin Lada on being chosen as our Youth of the Month for December! Austin is the son of Robert and Sarah Lada and the grandson of Bob and Mary Lada. Austin is a Senior at Lutheran North High School where he is on the wrestling team and the Drug Prevention and Awareness Club. He is often volunteering at numerous events here at IC like the IC Lenten Fish Fry, replacing the church floor, the white cross display in the church yard, the Walk for Warmth, Mercy in Action Day and Vacation Bible School. He helped organize the SVDP food pantry and cleaned one of our parishioner’s yards when they were sick. We thank Austin for sharing his faith through service to this parish and community!

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, St. Mary of the Hills Council 13950 held our 19th Annual Birthday Party for Jesus.
A total of about 140 Children and their parents attended the event in the Gymnasium of our Church building in Rochester Hills.
The children decorated cookies and completed an Arts & Crafts project. Once these events were completed, our Pastor and Council Chaplain, Fr. Stan Ulman, read a Christmas story to the children.
When Fr. Stan finished reading, Santa joined in the festivities. Pictures were taken with many of the children, and some adults. Santa also gave little gifts to the children.
The decorated trees in the pictures are part of our Terry's Trees program which honor the memory of our late Brother Knight Terry LaFlamme who passed away in 2020. Trees are decorated by the Knights and several parish groups. People purchase sponsorships for their favorite trees with the possibility of taking the tree home

A Knights Charity Knows No Bounds!

KNIGHTS CHARITY HAS NO BOUNDS
There is no better proof of that statement than the recent effort put forth by dd404, John
Huyge, MI and St Peters council 12178 in Naples, Fl. This opportunity presented itself
to us with 1100 miles between point A and point B. Former clients, an elderly couple
suffering from various health issues, found that they could no longer make the trip back
home without help. Just getting to the airport became an herculean task since the
husband, now wheelchair bound was too heavy for his wife to safely maneuver. Knights
to the rescue, through the efforts of dd404 a member of council 8687 Transportation
was provided to the Gerald R Ford Airport in Grand Rapids, MI, but only half the battle
was won… in Naples they needed to move into the home of their son while the barrier
free remodeling construction at their home was being completed, no ramp and a 25”, 5
step rise at the temporary home. A request for assistance went out to St Peters council
12178 in Naples and within 48 hours the team was identified that would meet at the
home and carry the husband, in his wheelchair, into the house.
At a very difficult time in the lives of this couple, the Knights, 1100 miles apart pitched in
and reduced the level of anxiety, as you can see in the picture, please pray for these
folks and thank God for the Knights of Columbus. VIVAT JESUS
