K of C Day at the Ballpark - August 29th - Tigers vs Dodgers

By: Michael A. Kozakiewicz - Mon, May 25, 2026 12:54 PM

Man, I love baseball! There is excitement in the air when you walk into a baseball stadium. The roar of the crowd, the smell of the hot dogs being cooked, and lines forming for beverages of all kind. Sometimes it feels like you're in another world. With our annual Knights of Columbus night at Comerica Park, you see Brotherhood Among Us. I keep having to increase the amount of tickets each year, and trust me, that is a good problem to have.

On Saturday August 29th, our fraternalism continues. Our hometown team, the Detroit Tigers, will be facing the World Series champs, the Los Angeles Dodgers. If you’ve never attended, this is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! If you’ve been in the past, be sure to bring some new faces. Let's show our Knights of Columbus Brotherhood around the stadium.

Hope to see you there. May God bless you all.

Au Lac Council Justin Mello Memorial Award

By: Matt Hoxsie - Mon, May 25, 2026 12:44 PM

Congratulations to Atticus Yaros and Elayna McDonald on being selected to receive the Au Lac Council Justin Mello Memorial Award! They received the award during the Immaculate Conception School sports award program on May 18th. Their names will be engraved on a plaque which is displayed in the main hallway.

Justin Mello was a former student at I.C. School whose life ended early. Justin was just 16 years old when he was murdered during a robbery where he worked. He was a well known and loved member of our I.C. community which was devastated by his loss.

Since his passing on October 21, 2000 the K of C Au Lac Council 10724 and Immaculate Conception School have honored Justin’s memory by selecting one 8th grade boy and one 8th grade girl who best demonstrate his qualities in four important categories – Academics; Citizenship; Conduct; and Athletics. The names of many deserving boys and girls were submitted and evaluated for the award. Congratulations again to Atticus and Elayna!

Dad Talk - Pentecost Sunday, Mass During the Day (Cycle A)

By: John Bursch - Mon, May 25, 2026 10:24 AM

As Pope Leo the Great explained, "the law was given on Mount Sinai fifty days after the immolation of the paschal lamb. Similarly, after the passion of Christ in which the true Lamb of God was killed, just fifty days after his resurrection, the Holy Spirit fell upon the apostles and the whole group of believers. Thus, the earnest Christian may easily perceive that the beginnings of the Old Covenant were at the service of the beginnings of the gospel and that the same Spirit who instituted the Second Covenant." As usual, the New Testament can only be understood in light of the Old, and the Old Testament is revealed in the New! We'll discuss that beautiful feature of Pentecost -- and much more -- in this week's Dad Talk. Please share with a friend, and God bless! Dad

Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 Hosts Heartwarming Picnic for Michigan Veterans

By: Matt Hoxsie - Mon, May 25, 2026 10:12 AM

On Saturday, May 16th, Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 proudly hosted a special picnic for the veterans at Vets Returning Home in Roseville, Michigan.

The event was a resounding success and a truly heartwarming experience for every veteran in attendance as well as all the Sir Knights and Ladies who volunteered their time and support. It was a proud day for our Assembly as we came together in the true spirit of charity and fraternity.

A big thank you to everyone who represented Divine Mercy #3082 that day — your presence made a real difference.

Special recognition goes to our project chairman, SK Ed Bahoura, who expertly handled the shopping, menu planning, and kitchen coordination. Thanks to his leadership and the outstanding teamwork and communication with volunteers, the entire day ran smoothly and efficiently.

We also want to thank all the generous members who purchased drinks, cooked and baked food, and brought desserts. Your contributions helped us stay well within budget and will allow us to continue these meaningful outreach projects for our veterans in the future.

Fourteen dedicated volunteers worked the picnic and spent quality time socializing with the veterans. Many heartfelt stories were shared, and new friendships were formed throughout the day.

Inspired by the success of this event, we hope to expand this outreach into multiple visits per year so we can do even more to honor and support our military heroes here in Michigan.

Thank you to every brother and sister who helped make this day possible. Your service truly exemplifies what it means to be a Knight of Columbus!

God bless you and your families.
