Fighting the Reproductive Freedom For All Petition

By: Ed Strach - Thu, Jun 16, 2022 9:55 AM

Updated RFFA Petition Schedule – Including the Upper Peninsula, Festivals, Rallies, and local Farmer Markets

This is to keep you informed of the latest abortion petition drive schedule. Please take time to review this updated schedule and take an active part in the “Decline to Sign” initiative.

In light of this latest push for support of RFFA, I am calling on all Brother Knights and their families to stand up and participate in the Decline to Sign Initiative. The current call to action is this: If you see someone requesting signatures for the RFFA petition to listen in on the discussion and ensure the message is clear – this is to legalize abortion and more. In addition, have a hand made sign ready that simply states “Decline to Sign, Stand for Life” or personalize your message.

Special Olympics Unified Cup International Soccer Championships

By: John Hundiak - Wed, Jun 15, 2022 1:06 PM

Breaking news!

The Special Olympics Unified Cup International Soccer Championships are coming to Detroit!

July 31 – August 6, Detroit will welcome over 300 athletes from 25 nations to compete in football (soccer)—the world’s most popular sport. The Special Olympics Unified Cup features competition broadcast to hundreds of millions of viewers across the globe. The week-long event will showcase athletic performances on the pitch and highlight stereotype-defying stories off the pitch — changing minds and opening hearts through transformational inclusion.  Additional information can be found at www.somi.org.

The planning for this event is an immense task.  At this point, I can tell you that all Knights are invited to the opening Ceremonies (including the Honor Guards) and the Knights will be asked to cook on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Corner Park (aka Old Tiger Stadium location).  We will need some grilles to be brought from councils (food will be provided).  If you are able to assist with the grilles and cooking, please contact me directly at j.hundiak@mikofc.org.

There are a variety of volunteers needed for this event.  Below is a link to the signup website.  The site describes the various types of volunteers needed, age requirements and health requirements.

https://specialolympicsunifiedcup2022.my-trs.com/

You may access the Volunteer Guidebook HERE.

As I learn more details and information, I will send out emails, post it on the State Website and send out via your weekly Constant Contact.  I will say that there will be changes along the way so stayed tuned!
