DETROIT ARCHDIOCESAN VOCATIONS LEAGUE MEMORIAL MASS

 

Each year, the Knights of Columbus, in collaboration with the Detroit Archdiocesan Vocations League, sponsor a Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. The names of every Brother who is being memorialized on a plaque is read aloud and also printed in the program.

 

This year’s Mass will be held on Sunday November 5, 2023.

 

The Mass is attended by our State Officers, the Fourth Degree Color Corps, and all Brother Knights and their families who wish to join. It is a beautiful gathering that allows us to come together and pay our respects.

 

Following Mass, we have the pleasure of attending a delightful brunch along with the current seminarians. This event is a heartfelt and significant occasion that allows us to come together to honor our fallen Brothers while also fostering connections with our future priests.

Brothers, our first Cross Catholic Outreach Food Packing event is happening on October 14th, thanks to our awesome host council, Holy Family Council #11811 in Novi.

 

We really need financial support through your donations, but equally important, we need your help!  We're on the lookout for 125-150 volunteers to lend a hand with the food packing. Just scan the QR Codes below and let's make this happen!

Imagine the impact we can make by ensuring that the most vulnerable among us, the women and children of an impoverished nation, can go to bed with a full belly. It's something we often take for granted, but it's a basic necessity that everyone deserves.

 

This program is truly exciting and wonderful, and I'm hoping that all of us can put our Faith in Action to make it a HUGE success.

The Gaylord Diocesan Soccer Challenge was held on Sunday, Sept. 17. This was the best response ever with winners posted at every level. Our Lady of Good Counsel K of C Council 8556 (Lake City) did an excellent job in hosting this event for the first time and all present had a memorable experience!

The Detroit Archdiocesan Soccer Challenge was held on Saturday, September 16th at Our Lady of the Lakes in Waterford. We were blessed with beautiful weather!

 

Four Champions were crowned:

Boys 10 year old - Peter Piechock from Livonia

Boys 11 year old - John Paul Bolster from Livonia

Boys 12 year old - Eli Certeza from Grosse Pointe Farms

Boys 14 year old - Victor Certeza from Grosse Pointe Farms

Let’s Help Heart of Christ Clinic

The Knights of Columbus are partnering with Detroit’s oldest parish to bring a new women’s health and pregnancy clinic to life in southwest Detroit. The purpose of the Heart of Christ Clinic is to put the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church into action.

How can the Knights help? At the Winter Leadership Meeting in Grand Rapids the weekend of December 8-9, 2023, we will be collecting diapers and baby wipes to help stock the shelves of the clinic. Please consider donating packages of diapers (sizes newborn to nighttime) and/or baby wipes. The most economically priced diapers can be found at your big box stores (Sam’s Club, Costco, BJ’s). Diapers and baby wipes can be given to your District Deputy for him to deliver to the Winter Leadership meeting.
