Councils Unite In Combined Effort To Help A Local Mom
By: Ken Warzybok -

Recently, the Brother Knights of Our Lady of the Lakes Council 5436 in Waterford Michigan and Father John Howard Council 8500 in Highland were contacted by a local organization to assist a mother in desperate need. Her urgent hardship was to catch up on some car payments since her job heavily relied on having a vehicle. This job was crucial in saving her family and keeping them together.
To tackle this challenge, three members from each council stepped forward, each bringing their own unique skills and experiences. Mike Mandzuk, the GK of Council 5436, personally delivered the funds to the car dealership and discussed the mom's situation with them.
Together, the two councils not only helped with the car payments but also donated a little extra to the family, ensuring that the mom could land on her feet and catch her breath.
This unified effort exemplified what our founder, Blessed Father Michael McGivney, envisioned for the Order.
Hats off to all of you, and VIVAT JESUS!

Family of the Month
Brothers, as you can see below, some Family of the Month submissions have not been properly completed. Unfortunately, these incomplete forms disqualified familes from being nominated Family of the Month at the Supreme level.
Please click here to watch a guided video on how to fill out the 10784 form. This will help ensure that all nominees have the opportunity to win Family of the Month. Your District Deputy and Diocesan Program Director are also available to assist you.

Brother Knights - we had a beautiful day on Saturday, September 23rd as 14 Knights of Columbus members volunteered to cook and serve lunch to over 500 Special Olympics Michigan athletes. Each Knight put in an average of 4 hours of service, which saved Special Olympics Michigan over $3,000 in food expenses.
Our Brother Knights have been providing this service at the State Soccer Finals for Special Olympics Michigan for over a decade! Thanks to all who came out to show support!

Coats for Kids Update
The final checks have been received and tallied for the Coats for Kids program. As of 9/21/2023 the councils have collected and donated $129,410.15. This will allow for ordering a phenomenal 1,000 cases of coats through the Supreme BOGO program. All of the donating councils deserve a standing ovation and a huge THANK YOU!
Now the process of shipping and distributing the coats is our big focus. You will be notified (if you haven’t already) when to expect or pickup your coats.
Please send details to j.hundiak@mikofc.org about your distribution plans. I will be putting together a list of the large distribution across the State and publishing it.
If your council wants to donate funds towards next year’s program, please do so and I will track it for you.
STUPENDOUS JOB EVERYONE! Now let’s keep those kids warm.
