On September 19th, Anchor Bay Council 5981 hosted its annual Council Appreciation Dinner honoring the charities and causes the council supported in the 2023-2024 Fraternal Year. Charities included were: St. Louis Center, Anchor Bay Special Education Programs, Immaculate Conception K-8 and Cardinal Mooney Catholic High schools, the Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST), St. Vincent DePaul, and many more.
The Compassion Pregnancy Center in Clinton Township was presented with a $1,000 gift as a part of the Council's ASAP efforts, and the St. Mary Queen of Creation Food Pantry will be receiving another $500 in donations as well as 96 coats from Anchor Bay Council's participation in the State Council "Coats for Kids" program BOGO program.
Worthy State Deputy Barry Borsenik and Worthy GK Richard Burke presented the Knight of the Year and Family of the Year awards to Wayne Miller, Jr and to Dale and Donna Valliere respectively.
Keynote Speaker, Brother SK Arvin Stephenson, spoke of his journey into the Permanent Diaconate and will be ordained as a Deacon in the Archdiocese of Detroit on October 5th at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. The Council presented Arvin with an Anchor Bay Council jacket so that no matter where his Diaconate journey takes him, he will always be a member of Council 5981!
Our Worthy State Deputy gave his final remarks and thanked the Council for its service to so many charities and doing the good work of the Order.
Many thanks to all of the dignitaries and charities that were able to attend and make the evening special, including State Deputy Barry Borsenik, His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Robert Fisher, Fr. Franklin Arockiadoss (St. Louis Center), Fr. Nick Zukowski (former Council Chaplain), Diocesan Membership Director Walter Papciak, and Diocesan Program Director Ron Depestel.
God Bless and Vivat Jesus!

Congratulations to Molly Timmons on being named as Au Lac Council Youth of the Month for September 2024! She is the daughter of Kennith and Amanda Timmons and an 8th grade student at Anchor Bay Middle School.
Molly helped at the parish festival, came to summer service day and attended Our Assumption Experience that entailed learning about the Blessed Mother and giving our lives to Jesus through her intercession, ending with giving Our Lady roses in the Grotto. She received the Student of the Month award at school, Certificate of Scholarship for Medical Detective, and attended summer camp for Air Force Junior ROTC.
Thank you to Molly for sharing your faith with others by your service to your parish and the community!
