 WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The summer is nearing an end, the kids are going back to school and it is time to get ready for the State of Michigan Special Olympics Fall Games. As you can see in the picture, the excitement of the athletes for the games never diminishes.

The Fall Games will be held on September 20-22, 2019.

Over a dozen different events will take place in Ann Arbor, Canton, Chelsea and Ypsilanti. For detailed information, go to https://www.somi.org/

So, what can the Knights do? Many of you have attended the Opening Ceremonies for the summer games and saw first hand how important these ceremonies are to the athletes. All Knights from across are invited to the Fall Games Opening Ceremonies. The ceremony will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 beginning at 7:30 pm at the Ann Arbor Sheraton, lo-cated at 3200 Boardwalk St., Ann Arbor, MI 48108. I would encourage you to do a couple of things. First, arrive early (about 6:30 pm) and mingle with the athletes, they love the Knights of Columbus and appreciate seeing us there.

Secondly, wear your MI Drive vests and bring some Tootsie Rolls to hand out. We are well recognized for the MI Drives by the athletes and coaches.   MI Dr Vest

Lastly, plan on staying after the ceremonies for a while. Meet some more of the athletes and if you’re brave enough join them in dancing and celebrating life.

All Color Corps from Across the State are invited to participate in the open-ing ceremonies. Color Corps, please be at the Ann Arbor Sheraton by 6:30 pm for instructions for the evening.

Several Councils have already volunteered to help serve lunch during the Soccer Competition on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Independence Park in Canton (1898 Denton Rd., Canton). Food prep will be starting at 8:00am. If your council would like to help please contact me at 248-420-0135 or email me at j.hundiak@mikofc.org.
