McGivney Field opening ceremonies being planned

Brother Knights,

 

               The Special Olympics Initiative, involving the building of a totally adaptable Special Needs baseball field, located in the Archdiocese of Detroit, is moving along at a rapid pace. The ceremonies are constantly adapting to council needs, as well as the leagues desires. This letter will not be the final communication. Information will be forthcoming through several notifications. Please be advised to keep informed.

 

               To those 42 Councils who have supported this initiative, I will personally visit your council to inform you of all details. To the councils that I have already visited, please be advised of those current changes posted in the forthcoming articles. For all the other councils who wish to attend this event, this is your line of communication.

 

               The “blessing and naming” of Clinton Valley Little League Challenger Division Senior League Baseball Field will be held on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. We will be congregating at the school parking lot located next to the entrance of Neil Reid Park. Located at 37705 Harper Road in Clinton Township, MI. This will be at 12:00 P.M. with any last-minute changes being announced at the field. Sorry Brother Knights, no K of C time on this one, we must not keep the League waiting! We are taking the field at 1:00 P.M. Please consider travel and parking time, parking will be limited. Please commute and be respectful to storefront parking. There will be no parking inside the park, it is reserved for the league and their Honorary Guest. Parking at the school is by permit only, so to those councils that have received those passes, do not forget to bring them. Those passes have a number on them, and that number will also be your position number on the field. Save the date, June 15th, 2024. We will be flash mobbing our own event, wearing our yellow Tootsie Roll M.I. Drive aprons. The opening ode will be sung prior to the general membership onto the outfield. Entrances onto both sides of the field will be under the Arch of Swords, provided by our Illustrious 4th Degree Color Corps.
