Dad Talk - Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle A)

Jesus prayed that we would all be "one." Yet today, there are thousands of Christian denominations and very little unity. Why? Because many non-Catholic Christians reject the teaching authority of the Pope, often because Jesus did not talk expressly about that office in his earthly ministry. But there are other subjects - the "Trinity" immediately comes to mind - that do not appear expressly in the scriptures, either. Yet all Christians accept them because they are easily inferred from the Bible. The papacy, too, can be easily inferred from the Bible - including from this Sunday's first reading and Gospel reading. So that's what we'll discuss in this week's Dad Talk. God bless! Dad
