Adopt-a-Parish in Mideast

My Brother Knights, As many of you may know, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson announced a new Adopt-a-Parish initiative for the Order during his remarks at the Supreme Convention.

Christian bros in mideast

The need for our Christian brothers in the Middle East is great. Years of persecution, war and international conflict have severely diminished the Christian population, ignored basic human dignity and promoted a culture of death. As Knights, we have the opportunity to assist our persecuted brothers and create a culture of life.

Participating councils are asked to pledge $2,500.00 a fraternal year for two years, during which they receive contact information for their adopted parish priest. All participating councils that meet their yearly commitment can count the Adopt-a-Parish initiative as two credits for Life programs towards their Columbian Award. Councils unable to make the two-year commitment can receive one credit for Life programs by hosting a fundraiser and making a donation to one of their neighboring councils’ Adopt-a-Parish initiative.

There are 15 Catholic parishes in Iraq who still are in need of a Knights of Columbus partner, and adopted parishes will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Every council that participates receives a free fundraising webpage which enables them to receive debit and credit card donations from brother Knights, family and the local community.

To express interest or sign up for the Adopt-a-Parish initiative, please contact Evan Holguin, Coordinator of Faith Programs. He can be reached by email at Evan.Holguin@kofc.org or by phone at (203) 752-4164.

We thank you for your help in promoting this important initiative, which brings much needed support and fraternity to our persecuted brothers in Iraq.
