A Word of Encouragement from our State COR Meeting Program Director

While attending a recent baseball game at Jimmy Johns Field in Utica, Tom Parsch & I were minding our own business, sipping our suds and enjoying some hot dogs, when we were approached by a woman who was attending the game with her husband. The Knights of Columbus logos on our shirts drew her over and she began to tell us: “I had to come over and tell you men how proud I am of what the Knights of Columbus do…”

She told us that she is not Catholic, but a member of one of those ‘feel good’ churches. She expressed to us how frustrated she is with her church, and others, for NOT standing up for LIFE and for being too willing to bury their heads in the sand when it comes to defending the unborn.

She went on to say that she sees the Knights of Columbus as a powerful force for good and that the Knights seem to be the only religious organization standing alone against the evil of the world.

The conversation was impressive and a breath of fresh air. I am sure all Knights have experienced just the opposite, as I have. For example, during walks for LIFE, we have all been given obscene hand gestures and called all manner of vile garbage while marching with “Defend LIFE” signs. It was very encouraging for Tom and I to hear someone publicly say those things to us. It was a wonderful conversation.

We are not alone gentlemen - let us continue to fight and Defend LIFE!

Don’t forget the March for LIFE November 8th in Lansing.
