The 2024 Ice Mass at Our Lady of the Snows is taking place on February 9th at 5:30pm.
Every year, college students of Council #17237 and community members in the town of Houghton, MI, come together to construct the Chapel as part of Michigan Technological University's annual Winter Carnival. This unique chapel features an altar made from thick slabs of ice, carefully cut from the majestic Lake Superior. As you explore the snowy walls, you'll discover a raised pulpit, a serene Marian grotto, a meticulously hand-carved confessional, cozy corridors along the sides, and stunning 'stained ice' windows that add a touch of ethereal beauty to the chapel.
It's truly a labor of love and a testament to the faith, creativity, and dedication of the people involved.
